Dr. Regina James is the Vice President of Clinical Research at 2M and has more than 25 years of clinical research experience. As a physician scientist, her areas of expertise span child and adolescent health, behavioral health and healthcare, clinical research, clinical trials, and social determinants of health.

Dr. James currently leads work with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The AHRQ Learning Health System K12 Learning Collaborative is a training program that will prepare the next generation of scientists to effectively utilize clinical data resources in a healthcare setting and to seamlessly conduct and rapidly translate research findings into improved patient-centered care, health outcomes, and health systems performance. Dr. James also directs the evaluation of the Maternal and Child Health Bureau’s Autism CARES Act for HRSA. The purpose of this project is to design and implement a net impact evaluation of the Autism CARES Act, with the goal of building a base to discuss anticipated challenges alongside methods and approaches for resolution.

Prior to joining 2M, Dr. James served as the Director of Clinical and Health Services Research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities. She also served as the Director of the Office of Health Equity of the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development at NIH. She has published articles in Science, the Journal of the American Medical Association, Science, Circulation Research, Biological Psychiatry, and the Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. James received her MD and her Bachelor of Science in Psychology/Biology from the University of California, Los Angeles. She completed a residency in General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, and she completed a clinical research fellowship in the Child Psychiatry Branch of the National Institute of Mental Health.
